Great Dane Rescue

Every giant deserves a
soft place to land.

We pull Great Danes and large breeds from North Texas shelters facing euthanasia, nurse them back to health, and find them the families they deserve.

Our Story

90 dogs. 4 years.
One mission growing.

Over the last four years, JD Middleton has rescued nearly 90 dogs — mostly Great Danes — in partnership with Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab. Save Rocky has funded the vetting and found homes throughout that partnership, pulling dogs from North Texas shelters that would otherwise face euthanasia.

But JD kept running into the same wall: dogs pulled from local shelters arrive sick. Kennel-acquired pneumonia, kennel cough, skin conditions — a dog pulled today needs 10 to 20 days of quarantine before it can be housed safely with others. Without dedicated space, you can only pull a dog or two at a time. And while you're nursing one back to health, the next one runs out of time.

Rockys Rescue Ranch Foundation exists to solve that problem — to build dedicated shelter space in North Texas so we can pull 10 to 20 dogs at once, run proper quarantine, and stop losing dogs to a system that wasn't built to save them.

Why a Dedicated Shelter

The bottleneck we're fixing

Most rescue dogs don't fail because people don't care. They fail because there isn't enough space to keep them safe while they heal.

🏥

Kennel Disease is Real

Nearly every dog pulled from a local shelter arrives with kennel-acquired illness — pneumonia, kennel cough, skin infections. They need isolation before they can be around other dogs.

⏱️

Time Kills

Quarantine takes 10–20 days. Without dedicated space, rescuers can only pull one or two dogs at a time — while dozens more run out of time on the shelter floor.

🏡

Space = Capacity

A dedicated facility with proper quarantine areas means pulling 10–20 dogs at once. More pulls, more recoveries, more adoptions — and fewer giants lost to a broken system.

Success Stories

They made it home.

Every one of these dogs was pulled from a Texas shelter or a cruelty case. Every one of them found a family.
